Xiangsheng traditional Chinese comedy

“Crosstalk” also known as xiangsheng (相声) is a traditional Chinese comedic performance dating back to the late Qing Dynasty.  In the form of a dialogue between two performers or much less often, a solo monologue. Traditionally the actor wears a long blue colored gown and keeps fan in his hand.  The language is rich in pun and allusions and is delivered in a rapid, bantering style. Even nowadays, xiangsheng is one of China’s foremost and most popular performing arts, and is typically performed in the Beijing dialect. The acts would sometimes include singing and musical instruments.
