Shi Mingde, the Chinese Ambassador in Germany, on development, trust, justice, innovation and the people

Yesterday I visited the German-Chinese Economical Day 2013 in Cologne which was organised by the Deutsch-Chinesische Wirtschaftsvereinigung e.V. The opening was presented by the Chinese Ambassador in Germany Shi Mingde.

He talked about the possible consequences which will follow the big reforms in China. Among other aspects he pointed out the importance of the economical development and the importance of the “market principle”.

At the same time, and this I will keep in my mind, he pointed out …………..the importance of the people and the influence of this development on society and the people as well as on their personal needs.

He said that it is really important that people in China and abroad can develop trust in Chinese politics again. Politics need this trust. Politics cannot face all the global challenges successfully without this trust.

Trust is, so the Chinese Ambassador, essentially connected to fairness and justice in society.

Secondly he pointed out that economical and social development is essentially connected to innovation. This does not only mean technical innovation and improvement. But also a new understanding of learning, which means for example to learn creativity. Which also means to learn from western cultures.
