Body-language and nonverbal communication

More to familism

More to familism

again I address to the lectures at the DCAP Heidelberg Congress on “body and soul” in East and West. Well family in China is related to relatives and the state. You could say: ” the family is identical to a small state and a state is identical to a family”. Therefore you could focus it to the following three rules:……………………

  • “the monarch or president rules the ministers
  • the father rules the family
  • and the man rules his wife.”

According to this there seem to be at least five basic principles or virtues or values, it depends on how you see it. But these five aspects dominate especially the nonverbal communication of the people: in a group, the family, a town, the state and the culture. It´s :

  • Humanity
  • responsibilty
  • courtesey
  • wisdom
  • and trustfulness.

Concerning the functional identity of family, group life and state and compared to the Western style of family life there is not such a functional identity. We, and I talk from this point of expereince to you when I say we, distinguish between family dynamics and structure, group dynamics and structure and organisational or social dynamics and structure.

Of course there are functional similarities and yet we are brought up in different habits of living. Often these habits don´t seem to correspond to each other or are established in an integrated way.

And often there are two ways of understanding this or a discrepancy between what is said and what is done by people. Or what is the offcial version or the implicite messsage.

This among other aspects is responsible that it is quite difficult for young people to find an integrated way of social particaption.
